Well it's the last day that I have a question for Karin so I thought I'd bring it back to the subject matter. You can follow the earlier interview questions if you wish at Day One, Day Two, Day Three, Day Four. So as it is the last I now will bombard Karin with four questions about the picture that brought me to find her and I'll try and pass it off as just one! I must have just recently had a coffee when I wrote this one.

Who is Isabella? Is Tiny hurt? Does she live where you have pictured her or is she just passing by and having a cuddle? Or is the point for us to wonder and imagine?
I wish that I could give you an answer as to who Isabella and Tiny are, but I'm not sure myself, they are whoever the viewer thinks they are. Because I firmly believe that artists pick up on things and certain energies that are out and about at the time of the creation, I think that it's likely someone was thinking of this exact location, these exact people, and the harmony between the child and the rabbit. I also have understood from talking to some people that are close to me in spirit, that the child Isabella could well be the 'inner child' expressing herself, or wishing to be expressed. I've felt that sometimes, the inner child is ignored to such an extent that pain is continued to be relived, and that, given the chance for the inner child to speak and have expression and be realised, the adult is able to move on. I sometimes, am hoping very much that my drawings will connect with an adult's inner child, so that could be the momentum that drives me to draw the image. Like a dream sometimes points the way to some unconscious or subconscious thoughts or thinking, I feel as though my drawings are pointing back inward into someone's soul, their inner child, in a way helping them come forward and be released from the pain of something that may have thwarted their development earlier on. In a way, it's a form of therapy for me, and I hope, a form of therapy for others. I also want my art to 'hug' children and 'given them permission to dream' because sometimes in this grown up world of adults, we forget to let or encourage children, to be children, we tend to put adult ideas on them, and want them to hurry and grow up. I think it's important to let children be children and carefree during their former years. But as we all know, this often isn't the case....I feel that the animals that I put in the images are like guides and helpers and friends for the lonely child. They are there to offer comfort, an ear to listen, etc, like an angel, like a guardian, like a wise one, who doesn't say much, but the presence of their comfort is their, always in the background, providing some kind of support in a furry way :)

Thank you Karin, I'm loving the idea of picking up on energy from others that could direct your artwork and even capture a scene that they have projected. As a viewer of portfolios of art it certainly makes me want to keep looking at others pictures. I can't help wondering whether someone has managed to capture something I was thinking about? That would be so brilliant to find it wouldn't it. However I do wonder if I'd fully recognise it if I saw it?
I totally agree with you regarding children, imagination and dreaming, in fact I would even take that point a step further. Creative thinking courses within business is now sold as a skill and exercises are being put forward in order to enhance problem solving in staff teams. The ability to imagine and picture a situation is key to problem solving. I think it's rather sad that we have to teach something that should have been developed and encouraged as a genuine skill rather than merely an aspect of childhood that needs to be put aside at some point to allow for adulthood to develop properly. Clearly that is not the case at all and creativity in thought is very important to development and is sought after skill.
I know this is my last question for Karin in our little interview but I would like to do a little summary and thank you tomorrow. My discussions with Karin have fallen just as I have been developing ideas myself for a business start up which is to do with storytelling and creativity. It's proving to be quite a task pulling something creative into a business plan. However in order to receive support and mentoring form the people I want, then that is what will be happening over the next two weeks.
Karin has been busy herself recently, although to be honest that is nothing new, I have just read about an award she was nominated for and then received, you can read about that in Karin's journal at RedBubble where she also shares the development techniques she has used for the tablet painting. Here is a glimpse of the finished work. I really like this one, it oozes adventure!
