End of Interview with Karin Taylor

Angels by Karin Taylor
I think that is it from me on Isabella and Tiny but I did ask Karin's permission to keep in contact as I would love to return to her as I develop my own art project into a business venture, perhaps nearer the launch date in winter it would be great if I can get back to Karin. (That's our winter on this side of this hemisphere - perhaps I should say Christmas to keep things less complicated)

Karin Taylor Interview–Day 5

Isabella and Tiny
Isabella and Tiny

Well it's the last day that I have a question for Karin so I thought I'd bring it back to the subject matter. You can follow the earlier interview questions if you wish at Day One, Day Two, Day Three, Day Four. So as it is the last I now will bombard Karin with four questions about the picture that brought me to find her and I'll try and pass it off as just one!  I must have just recently had a coffee when I wrote this one.

Karin Taylor Interview–Day 4

I'm continuing today with my interview with Karin. You can catch up on Day One, Day Two and Day Three if you like. The fourth reason I liked Isabella and Tiny is the rabbit. At home I have a rabbit - she bobs about the house and is called Her Rabbity Hairiness (HRH) Princess Jessica Harvey. (We call her Princess) It is so unlike me to have such a flowery over the top name but I ended up with a girly rabbit instead of a boy who I was going to call simply Harvey, so I had to overcompensate to girlify the name Harvey.

Karin Taylor Interview–Day 3

The third reason I liked Isabella and Tiny is the colours and the quality of light. (If you are just catching up on my interview with Karin Taylor You can catch up now on Day One and Day Two). With a bit more rummaging about through your work I discovered this is present in much of your work and I couldn't help wondering where that came from and I was going to ask. However I realised the answer was the first line of your profile "I’m Karin Taylor, my home is Australia, my muse is the ocean" So I had a look through your photography section and there was the evidence - for example "You are my Rock" is a photo and if I was to emulate your pallete I'd run that image through a system and I'd pretty much have a good starter right there.

Karin Taylor Interview–Part 1

It is with a very great pleasure that I am able to publish an interview I carried out with an Australian artist, Karin Taylor.  I have enjoyed so much the research into her work and I am proud to share her portfolio with others and I hope you all gain something for having a look through that.  I also enjoyed the interview process and Karin has responded so well that it has been a real privilege to talk with her. I have split the interview up to run over several posts.

Be Different - tribute to Isabella Rossellini and Green Porno

Source: redbubble.com via Kay on Pinterest
I started at the beginning of Autumn with a little nod to Isabella Rossellini by making reference to a rather beautiful blog post I had found. Then last week I took a look at one of Isabella’s creative projects Green Porno. I really wanted to create a design that acknowledged what I had discovered in respect to these rather odd little films. As an artist this presented a little problem initially, as I did not want to make images of insects and other creatures in a state of intimacy. This was compounded by the fact that these intimacies can get odd! If you have seen the series you will realise that something either grizzly, bizarre or deadly occurs. Tempted as I was to capture an image of a man bee with missing penis about to die because he had managed to copulate with a lady bee, I decided this was not the route for me at the moment.

There’s no stopping Isabella and Olympia–The Giraffe Muse

Early Morning Wash
Early Morning Wash
To be honest it’s hard to believe that it’s only a week ago that I wrote about a story I had found on The birth of Olympia by Mum Giraffe Isabella. Since then the news, has not only created a bunch of pictures that serve as t shirts, art prints and device cases. (More options to be released soon on these products), it has also served to galvanise my purpose and resolve for this blog and the pictures and stories that emerge as a result of it.

Looking back at Green Porno - Isabella Rossellini

Source: twitchfilm.com via Kay on Pinterest
Starting in about 2007 I went a few years without a TV in my home so this may be why I knew nothing about Green Porno which was a rather odd and funny collection of super short films which were conceived, written, co-directed by and featuring Isabella Rossellini.

Following the Isabella Story

I thought we would have a look at another depiction of the Keats Isabella poem after a painting of Isabella hit the news this week. Isabella and the Pot of Basil is a painting completed in 1868 by William Holman Hunt.

Isabella - cop a load of that on the way into the Tate

Source: dailymail.co.uk via Kay on Pinterest
Oh Behave - Oh it's just the nutcracker shadow - sorry!
It was great to see the John Everett Millais' 1848 painting Isabella, which was his first work as a member of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood in many of the online papers yesterday. I've gone for the coverage by the Daily Mail as I find this one to be the funniest. Don't read more if you are not allowed to read about willies!
I did actually study Art and Art History to A' level and was rather fond of the work of Gabriel Rossetti. I liked the brushwork and female characteristics and it was also intriguing their captivation of a certain female, but that's all another story.

Isabella Rossellini - a great tribute

Isabella Rossellini - you don't get many better examples of an Isabella than this lady. Funny, warm, intelligent and beautiful. The blog post that this image has been brought from is a beautiful collection of photos. Click the image to follow the picture to the original blog posting.
